RESET HIGHER: This classic video from our friends at The John 10:10 Project tells about the remarkable story of Joni Eareckson Tada. It’s a perfect follow up to the ThinkSpace titled Legacy that I wrote last week.

In 1967, at the age of 17, Joni broke her neck in a tragic diving accident and became a quadreplegic. It’s 2026 right now, so she’s been in a wheelchair for 59 years! Instead of turning away from God in bitterness, she turned to Him and He transformed her life from the inside as only He can. She became – and continues to be – a writer, speaker, the creator of hundreds of videos, has received honorary degrees and many awards for her work with people with disabilities. She’s married to Ken Tada. She’s also a gifted artist who overcame her physical limitations to express her artistic gifts, anyway.

Joni’s life has inspired and helped millions of people around the world. From a wheelchair. Her injury couldn’t stop who she was destined to become and the legacy she is already known for.

Every one of us has unique life circumstances that can crush us or teach us to be an overcomer with God’s help if we accept it. Here’s what the Holy Bible promises us in Philippians 4:13 (NLT):

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

How does Joni’s life challenge you to rethink the limitations in your life?
