We’re all creatures of habit to one degree or another. To prove this, try going on vacation with friends, or have someone stay with you for a few days. You’ll see your way vs. their way…right away! Your routines will “collide”. Maybe you like quiet mornings and they crank up the music. You like to ease into the day and they hit the ground running. You like a healthy breakfast and they eat everything you don’t. All of this before noon on day one! How you react to these “intruders” invading your “personal planet” will say a lot about your response to change. Will you flow with it or get irritated and cranky, somewhere on a scale of 1 to 10?
Some changes are temporary, but others are more permanent. I was looking through old pictures recently and thought, “Wow, life is a lot different since then” – because it is. You’ve probably felt what I did. It can hurt to look at some photos of the past because we can’t return to that moment in the picture. Rather than being sad this time, I made a change of my own and said, “That was a good day” or “What a great memory!” and it brought me comfort instead.
Change happens.
When we read the news today, we all can see our world is changing. But never forget, the truth about life can always be found in the Holy Bible – ahead of time. In the Gospel of Matthew 24:3b-8 (NIV), the disciples ask Jesus this:
“’…what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?’ Jesus answered, ‘Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.“
One day, the whole world will see Christ return. Atheists, agnostics, and those who believe in man-made religions. Jesus Himself says in verse 30b, that all the peoples of the earth will “see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” Then Jesus says this in verse 35:
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Did you catch that? Even though this earth will pass away (a new one is promised to replace it however, see Revelation 21:1), the words of Jesus are unchangeable.
Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) also tells us this powerful truth:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Here’s a word to the wise. As we see changes on our earth (you may not believe it, but as I was writing this, we just had a 4.3 earthquake here in Southern California!!), let’s remember Who holds our future. Clickbait and news networks lure people into focusing on the dark side of humanity and events, affecting our mental health if we have no reason to hope. But Jesus IS our hope! He was truly God in human form and lives today, sent to save us and forgive our sins and offer us the gift of eternal life if we accept it.
Every day, let’s put our concerns in true perspective and remember these words that Jesus said to us in John 16:33:
“I have told you these things, so that in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. “
RESET HIGHER: Immutable is the word used to describe the unchangeable character of God. We can trust Him 100%. Because He is sovereign and in complete control, we have nothing to fear. Look up these verses on your own today and learn more:

Excellent!!! The world is changing but God never changes ! Amen to all you said ! Trusting God in all things!
So true! Choosing faith over fear requires trust. Trusting in God and believing what He has said in His unchangeable Word is always the best choice. Because of His love for us, He’s also the Righteous Judge. Nothing escapes His attention – in the end He will sort it all out!
I don’t watch or listen to the news for the most part because I have chosen to put all my trust in GOD. I know where I am going so I try not to control the things that I can’t and only work on the ones that I can.
I agee. We all need to be informed, but recognize the agenda behind what keeps the media alive: viewers and listeners, paid for by advertisers. The edgier, raunchier, and more sensational the bait, the more bites they get. We ALL should have figured that out by now. Amidst all of the darkness, God’s light is eternally shining and separating good from evil if we open our spiritual eyes and see…Him!
