When I started writing these Thinkspaces, I knew there wouldn’t be a massive audience waiting each Thursday to read or listen to what was on my heart to say. I was prepared to hear a lot of crickets at first. It reminds me of one of the posters by the sarcastic and funny-but-true(!) company, Despair.com. It says:
“Blogging: Never before have so many people with so little to say said so much to so few.”
I did it anyway.
Doing what’s in your heart to do is personal and uses the gifts and talents you’ve been given. Don’t waste them!
Doing something new is brave. I respect that!
Doing something challenging is rewarding. Whether anyone notices or not, you will. God will!
Doing something sacrificial to help others is what Jesus would do. You’ll know it in your soul!
I’ve been writing these Thinkspaces for seven months now and I’ve learned a couple of things. The first is, even though I’ve been writing them for you, I found I’ve been writing them for me too! The second is, these aren’t just for now, they’re also for future readers. If even one person reads one thinkspace and their life is changed it’s worth it all. No contest.
In this instant gratification world, the investment of yourself in doing what takes time to grow is easy to miss – yet it can be the most rewarding. Muscles don’t appear overnight – you have to work out consistently to get them. Cooking a delicious home-cooked, healthy meal takes more time but it tastes better – especially with the love you add to it. A big project takes tenacity and patience, but you’ll never know the deep satisfaction of accomplishment unless you put in the work. Getting started again after a big setback takes strength. You’re stronger than you think, plus God has more to give you than you can imagine, so talk to Him and ask for help.
You’ll find that the lessons are found in the doing. Your car can idle until it runs out of gas in neutral. So can you. Or, you can use it to propel you to go places and do things you didn’t know were ahead. It’s your decision. Your life. Don’t miss your own adventure!
Here’s what it says in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25:
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”
There’s even more reason to do our very best with what we have been given. As a believer, your true reward is in Heaven and eternal. The best (by far) is yet to come!
RESET HIGHER: Only you know what you have been drawn to do, or need to do, but have been setting it aside. Something that will be missing from your life if you never do it. Something that can help others too. Do it anyway.

Inspired and encouraged to “do it anyway” — thanks, Linda!
Favorite thoughts:
Don’t waste our gifts and talents … use them to help others and to challenge ourselves.
Engaging with others makes an impact … even if it is just one person, it’s worth it.
Getting started takes strength and courage. There is no better time than right now! Do it, be surprised and adventurous. Speak those words, write that note, be a good listener, pray for wisdom and direction, and place the needs of others first.
Do it for Jesus. Do it for HIS Kingdom. Do it for HIS glory.
