Trust

When I feel the unknown future about something creeping in and uncomfortable, anxious thoughts try to enter my mind, I look behind the reason for what is really happening.

For example, for me, tomorrow (June 3, 2024) is my first radiation treatment after having breast cancer surgery two months ago. Even though my case was stage one, I have a family history that indicates erring on the side of caution is probably best. Sitting here today, I don’t know how this will play out. It’s real.

Maybe you’re facing something in your life that’s as real as this right now – or you have – or maybe you will. Where do you turn? What is the “treatment” for going through what we must, even though we don’t want to go through any of it?

I’ve found it comes down to two things: truth and trust. If I believe that the God who wrote the Holy Bible is real, loves me, sent His only Son to save me, that changes everything. And I do. He created every one of my cells. He gave me this life I live. He gave me my soul that will live for eternity past this temporary “earth suit” I wear … for now. My strength has limits – but God is all-powerful. My view is a small radius – He sees things from beginning to end.

I can believe His promises that are written in His Word. I can trust Him because of who He is – and when I do, I find He is already there.

Here’s our verse for today:

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”   (Hebrews 4:16)

RESET HIGHER: Is there something in your life right now that’s beyond what you can change? Make the decision to give it to God. Say a prayer and ask Him for His help and strength. Every day, or whenever anxious thoughts return, make the decision again and again as many times as you need to. Then listen for His voice speaking peace and wisdom to your heart and mind.
